#43: Golurk

Golurk looks more like it's some ancient statue (which it probably really was at first), but it also actually resembles a suit of armor possessed by a ghost. It runs on a mysterious energy and when the seal on its chest is removed, its internal energy goes out of control. Unlike most Pokémon, Golurk were made by ancient people in order to protect Pokémon and humans. Maybe that's why I like Golurk so much: it's so weird that it's actually quite funny. It resembles a statue as well as a suit of armor or a golem of some sort. Screw it, I have a thing or ancient things, especially when it comes to Pokémon like Golurk. It looks like it can punch everything away at full power. In fact, Golurk is the strongest ghost-type Pokémon in the video games attack-wise (its special attack is very low and you shouldn't use that stat, anyway). Just make sure that it's having the Iron Fist ability, which powers up its punching moves like Shadow Punch, Hammer Arm, Mega Punch, DynamicPunch, Drain Punch, Ice Punch, Fire Punch, Thunder Punch and Focus Punch with 20%. Definitely avoid the Klutz ability, which prevents Golurk from using held items in battles. Worse than useless, because that way you can't give it a Spell Tag or Soft Sand to make the most out of Shadow Punch or Earthquake, for example. You don't want that, trust me, especially not with such a high attack stat like Golurk's (and if it didn't have such a high attack stat, it would have needed a boost from Spell Tag, Soft Sand or other items, anyway). Golurk is a great Pokémon to use in-game, I can tell you that from my own experiences with this Pokémon. The only downside is that it's slow, but what do you want? It's a heavy statue, for heaven's sake! Besides, is not excruciatingly slow, it outspeeds quite some Pokémon out there... O yeah, it can fly, too (check out the image below; click on it to enlarge it, or drag it to another tab). It even learns HM02 Fly in the games, although that's more entertaining than it is useful.
